Authorities in Kiel have launched an investigation into the parents of the deceased young child from Preetz on suspicion of negligent homicide through omission. The authorities announced on Wednesday that preliminary doubts exist that a failure to adhere to supervisory and general duty of care may have led to the drowning death of the three-year-old girl. At the request of the Kiel public prosecutor’s office, the district court issued a search warrant for the residence on Wakendorfer Straße in Preetz. As of midday, operational forces from the Kiel Police Directorate were executing the search. These measures were intended to locate and secure evidence, as well as to document the surroundings and the discovery site. No further information would be provided at this time.
