Dax Maintains Momentum Driven by Global Optimism and Consumer Recovery Hopes

The German DAX maintained positive momentum on Thursday, staying firmly in the green throughout the morning. By 12:30 PM, the leading index was valued at approximately 26,475 points, representing a 0.6 percent gain compared to the previous day’s closing level. Leading the performers were Qiagen, Rheinmetall, and Commerzbank, while Brenntag, BASF, and Daimler Truck recorded declines.

Andreas Lipkow, Chief Market Analyst at CMC Markets, offered an optimistic view of global trading environments, stating, “The mood on the stock exchanges around the globe remains good.” He explained that investors anticipate that the rise in energy prices will not lead to inflationary scenarios, but will instead be absorbed by companies, allowing the economy to continue recovering with consumers being more inclined to spend.

Meanwhile, the European common currency strengthened slightly on Thursday afternoon. The Euro was trading at $1.1534 against the US Dollar, meaning the Dollar cost 0.8670 Euros.

In contrasting news, oil prices dropped. Near noon German time, a barrel of North Sea Brent crude was priced at $87.70, a decrease of 1.4 percent, or 128 cents, compared to the close of the prior trading day.
