German Energy Minister Boosts Indonesia Cooperation to Advance Renewables and Business Ties

Federal Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan (SPD) traveled to Indonesia on Monday, accompanied by a business delegation. The primary aim of the trip is to deepen cooperation within the energy sector.

Indonesia is designated as one of the “new focus countries” for German development policy. The visit aims to promote partnerships related to renewable energy while simultaneously helping German companies gain easier access to the Indonesian market.

A central component of the journey is participation in the “Indonesia Sustainable Energy Week,” an event organized by the Indonesian government and supported by Germany. Alabali Radovan officially opened the exhibition alongside the Indonesian Minister of Planning. Furthermore, the delegation visited sites of German companies, including Bayer and Siemens, and held discussions with various Indonesian government representatives.

Before her departure, the Minister stressed the significance of private investment for Indonesia’s energy transition, highlighting the opportunities this presents for both German and European businesses. As part of the international partnership for a just energy transition, approximately 20 billion US dollars are targeted for mobilization, a partnership that Germany is advancing alongside Japan and other nations. Alabali Radovan also plans to discuss cooperation with Indonesian partners regarding critical raw materials and supply chain diversification.
