During a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, at least twelve people were killed in Kyiv and the surrounding regions on the night preceding Thursday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the assault involved various types of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, aimed at causing “maximum damage to civilian infrastructure.” According to him, residential buildings, a pediatric hospital, and a school were damaged in the capital city, and rescue and recovery operations are currently underway.
In Kyiv, approximately 40 people were injured in addition to the fatalities. Furthermore, a border crossing into Moldova in the Odesa region was targeted by drones, while gas infrastructure in the Chernihiv region was struck.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that it used air, land, and sea-based weapons to attack “military facilities and warehouses.” They also reported shooting down 726 Ukrainian drones.
