Bosch and Humanoid Partner to Manufacture Humanoid Robots in Germany’s Black Forest

Bosch is teaming up with the British company Humanoid to manufacture new types of robots that mimic the human body. According to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” (FAS), citing Humanoid, the mass production of these humanoid robots is slated to begin in August 2027 at the Bosch factory in Bühl, in the northern Black Forest.

This initiative marks the first time Bosch will produce such advanced, AI-driven robots, which are viewed as a promising future business area. Their design incorporates features analogous to the human physique, including a head, arms, hands, and legs.

Bosch partnered with Humanoid this year, with the London-based startup developing the robots and Bosch taking on the role of contract manufacturer for the series production. Humanoid has indicated that the initial production run is planned for several hundred units. Furthermore, Bosch informed the FAS that they are currently exploring the possibility of supplying components to the robots, such as drives, motors, and sensors.

Humanoid announced that Schaeffler, a Bavarian automotive supplier, is among the first buyers for the humanoid robots produced in Bühl, as Schaeffler intends to integrate them into its own manufacturing processes. The British firm has established cooperative agreements with both Bosch and Schaeffler, and both companies are also investors in Humanoid.

While the market for humanoid robots is still in its nascent stages, experts predict significant long-term potential for these high-tech helpers. Initially, they are expected to be utilized in factories and logistics, with applications later expanding to include elderly care and domestic assistance. Currently, companies from China and the U.S. are leading the development of humanoid robots.
