A Romanian F-16 fighter jet recently destroyed a naval drone packed with explosives in the Black Sea. The government in Bucharest announced on Thursday that the drone was struck several hundred meters from the Neptun Deep gas field. Defense Minister Radu Miratu clarified that the drone was not sourced from Ukraine.
The drone’s exact origin was initially undetermined. This latest incident adds to a series of recent encounters with drones in Romania. Just days earlier, a Spanish F-18 had intercepted a drone that had penetrated Romanian airspace from Moldova.
