Opel Confirms All-Electric Corsa Arrival in 2028, Targeting Entry-Level EV Market

The next version of the Opel Corsa will not be released in 2027, according to Opel CEO Florian Huettl, who told “Welt am Sonntag”. The electric model is scheduled to arrive in 2028, priced at approximately 25,000 euros.

Huettl noted that the Corsa is currently Opel’s best-selling vehicle and its top-selling small car in markets including Germany and Great Britain. He explained that by offering this model, Opel is contributing to the establishment of electric mobility even within the entry-level vehicle segment.

He also commented on the current conditions for electric vehicles in Germany, stating that the market is favorable. “The supply offering is strong, the charging infrastructure is developing well, and politics is specifically supporting electric vehicles,” Huettl said. He added that rising gasoline prices make electric cars more financially sensible for many customers. When the price of gasoline reaches 2.50 euros per litre, Opel directly observes this shift in demand.

Despite this progress, Opel has not set a fixed date for phasing out vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.
