The form it takes as a law remains subject to the further legislative process,” adding that they would then examine the specific government draft. This proposal, reported on by “Bild,” suggests the planned tax would cover a significantly broader range of beverages than previously known. The scope could potentially include juices, iced teas, milk-based drinks, and even sugar-free alternatives, such as Cola Zero. This development follows a time when the CDU rejected a motion for the introduction of a sugar tax during its party convention in February.
