While filming the ARD series “Nord bei Nordwest,” the production crew encountered serious trouble during a trip in the Baltic Sea, according to actors Marleen Lohse and Victoria Fleer, who spoke with the Neues Osnabrücker Zeitung.
Lohse, who plays the veterinarian Jule Christiansen in the series, described the incident: “We were on the water with Hinnerk (Schönemann), Victoria, the film dog Holly, and a small team aboard the ‘Princess of Schwanitz,’ and eventually, she broke down.” She added that they had to be rescued by smaller boats, and the ‘Princess’ had to be towed back.
Victoria Fleer, whose character is the hotel manager Bine Pufal in the crime drama, recalled the filming of the anniversary episode, “The Third Grave.” She narrated that the situation worsened when the engine room suddenly started emitting smoke and an unusual smell. “The boat stopped moving, and we were stuck,” she recounted.
The turbulent sea conditions that day compounded the problem. Fleer noted, “It was stormier than usual. I and some of the team gradually started feeling ill. Even Holly had to vomit.” The only person who remained completely unaffected was Hinnerk Schönemann. Fleer joked that he was so composed that he whispered various phrases into her ear before scenes, making her feel even sicker.
Separately, Lohse shared her personal favorite episode, stating, “If I had to name a favorite episode, it would be ‘Ho, ho, ho.’ In that episode, we celebrated Christmas together in the reception hall of the ‘Ahab’ inn, making music and dancing, while the team outside tried to simulate snow with foam.”
