Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) is stranded in the United States due to damage sustained by a government aircraft. According to reports from the “Bild,” instead of making his scheduled return flight, he had to spend the night in a hotel.
Consequently, Klingbeil will miss the Cabinet meeting, which is scheduled to address his major tax law. He will need a State Secretary to represent him. It is currently under review whether the aircraft can be repaired or if Klingbeil will return to Germany on a commercial flight on Wednesday.
The minister was in the U.S. to participate in the G20 finance ministers’ meeting and subsequently visited the BMW plant in Spartanburg.
