Bavarian Interior Minister Warns Schwerdtner Poses “Danger” to Germany Over Extremist Rhetoric

Bavaria’s Interior Minister, Joachim Herrmann (CSU), stated that Ines Schwerdtner, the leader of the Left Party, poses a danger to Germany due to her remarks concerning the far-left riots in France. Speaking to the “Bild-Zeitung” (Saturday edition), Herrmann called her comments on the violence in France and their impact on other nations “completely indefensible,” asserting that they reveal the Left’s alarming relationship with extremism and violence.

The CSU politician further criticized Schwerdtner’s statements, adding that she appears not only pleased that the riots from France have spread to other countries. Herrmann noted that, together with the Social Democratic Student Union, she seems to envision a similar scenario developing in Germany. According to the Bavarian Interior Minister, she believes that what worked in France-connecting various movements-must now also succeed in Germany. He clarified, however, that he does not refer to peaceful student protests, but rather to the fight waged by far-left activists against the media and the police.

Herrmann concluded by stating that it is “infamous, revealing, and shocking” how Mrs. Schwerdtner intends to portray perpetrators as victims and neglect those who protect the country.
