Hungary Expels Ten Russian Diplomats Citing ‘Unacceptable’ Activities

The Hungarian government has announced the expulsion of ten Russian diplomats. According to Foreign Minister Anita Orbán, those affected have been requested to leave the country. Orbán stated that Hungarian authorities determined these members of the Russian mission engaged in activities deemed “unacceptable” under the Vienna Convention for Diplomats.

The Hungarian side has informed the Russian Ambassador in Hungary about this decision. The minister explained that the measure aims to protect the security and sovereignty of Hungary. However, Orbán emphasized that this expulsion does not mean a breakdown of diplomatic ties with Russia. She continued by noting that Hungary intends to continue “necessary dialogue based on mutual respect and adherence to rules.”
