The Green party intends to adopt a more strategic approach to artificial intelligence (AI). To facilitate this, they are initiating a regular AI dialogue involving stakeholders from the economy, academia, and civil society, with the first session scheduled for this Thursday. According to the party chair, Franziska Brantner, AI holds the potential to fundamentally transform various aspects of life. “Artificial intelligence will change everything,” she told Handelsblatt, pointing to changes in how we work, how healthcare and education are delivered, and how our social systems are funded.
Brantner advocates for a more active engagement with the topic, stressing that the political system cannot afford merely to manage it. She insists the party must actively “discuss” and scrutinize entities that develop, fund, research, implement, and critically monitor AI. The dialogue will include technology companies such as DeepL, Helsing, Parloa, Prior Labs, Codesphere, Black Forest Labs, and Polarise. Additionally, the Greens reported that investors like General Catalyst and HV Capital will also be participants. This forum is planned to take place regularly and will comprise a fixed group of around 25 individuals.
Michel Boutouil, Co-Founder and CEO of Polarise, welcomed Brantner’s initiative, stating that neither unrealistic promises nor overly frightening scenarios will advance Germany and Europe in this sector. He emphasized the need for a realistic handling of the challenges inherently presented by this technology.
