Evers emphasized that the focus of the campaign in Berlin must remain on local, Berlin-specific issues, stating that the election “is not about Friedrich Merz.” While acknowledging that federal politics will naturally be a side topic, he stressed that the vote fundamentally determines the future direction of Berlin. He concluded by wishing the federal government success and affirming his willingness to support them in the best interest of the state as Governing Mayor.
