The parliamentary elections in Russia saw the ruling party, United Russia, securing a clear victory, as had been expected. Post-election surveys indicate that the party garnered approximately 49 percent of the votes, a slight decrease compared to previous elections.
The Communist Party secured the second position, achieving around 14 percent of the vote, a result that observers generally anticipated. However, the elections in Russia have been deemed undemocratic by international observers due to the prior exclusion of numerous opposition parties.
Voters were given the opportunity to cast their ballots from Friday through Sunday. Notably, the election was held for the first time in parts of the annexed Ukrainian regions-Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia-that are controlled by Russia.
