Rainer Dulger, President of BDA, and Peter Leibinger, President of BDI, have called upon the federal government to initiate a resolute course of reform, even in the face of ongoing internal political disputes.
In a joint contribution to the “Handelsblatt”, the two industry leaders stated that the governing coalition holds a “mandate from voters for four years” and maintains a majority in the Bundestag. They insisted that internal party issues must not distract from these priorities, asserting, “The country comes first, then the party.”
As specific policy demands, Dulger and Leibinger are pushing for the removal of the tax-free pension provision for individuals with extensive insurance histories. The presidents argued that the so-called “pension at 63” must be scrapped immediately, characterizing the issue as one of both financial stability and fairness.
Furthermore, they urged middle-ground political parties to draw critical lessons from the results of recent state elections and to accelerate reforms designed to boost competitiveness, stimulate growth, and enhance employment.
