U.S. stock markets saw significant gains on Friday. At the close in New York, the Dow reached 51,829 points, marking a 0.9% increase compared to the previous trading day. Earlier in the session, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.5% at approximately 7,740 points, while the technology market calculated the Nasdaq 100 at around 30,608 points, which represented a 0.4% gain.
In currency markets, the European common currency strengthened slightly by Friday evening. One Euro traded at $1.1394, meaning a US Dollar was accordingly priced at 0.8777 Euros.
On the commodity front, the price of gold managed to benefit, with a fine ounce trading at $4,290 during the evening (+0.2%). This equates to a price of €121.05 per gram. In contrast, the price of oil dropped considerably. A barrel of North Sea Brent oil cost $104.50 around 8 PM German time on Friday, which was 2.0% (210 cents) less than the closing price of the previous day.
