Paula Piechotta, a Greens budget committee member, welcomed the withdrawal of Jens Spahn, the former CDU faction leader, from the Bundestag’s Budget Committee. According to Piechotta, she told the “Rheinische Post”, this departure-which occurred without him having attended a meeting-represents a sign of “functioning political hygiene.” The Greens further argued that anyone who has shown they cannot handle taxpayer money responsibly should not have a vote on new public funds. Piechotta concluded by thanking all the budget committee members who advocated for this decision.
