The VCI, the German chemical industry association, has warned the black-red coalition against endlessly debating the planned reforms. Wolfgang Große Entrup, the chief executive of the VCI, told newspapers of the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Thursday editions) that the federal government must act as a united team for Germany, adhering to the principle of placing the country before any political party.
He urged that decisive reform projects should not be constantly questioned. Große Entrup insisted, despite heavy opposition, that the government must push the reform agenda through, stating that perpetual discussions are not progressing the country. “Time is running against us,” he added.
The German chemical companies are currently facing extreme pressure and must focus heavily on cost reduction and efficiency. Große Entrup emphasized that comprehensive economic and social reforms are fundamentally essential.
