US Markets Rally as Oil Prices Climb Amid Euro Strength

US stock markets saw gains on Friday. At the close in New York, the Dow reached 51,177 points, marking a 0.5 percent increase compared to the previous trading day. Shortly before that, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.7 percent with approximately 7,723 points, while the technology exchange, the Nasdaq 100, was calculated at around 30,808 points, up 1.0 percent.

In currency markets, the European common currency was slightly stronger as the weekend started: one Euro cost $1.1257, meaning the dollar was priced at 0.8883 Euros.

In commodities, the price of gold weakened, with a fine ounce trading at $4,144 that evening (-0.8 percent). This equates to a price of 118.36 Euros per gram.

Meanwhile, oil prices rose. A barrel of North Sea Brent crude cost $102.80 around 10 p.m. German time on Friday, which was 48 cents, or 0.5 percent, higher than the previous trading day’s close.
