Following the tragic fire in an apartment building in Bochum-Hofstede, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals, police announced on Wednesday that one person has been arrested.
Authorities confirmed that a technical fault has been ruled out as the cause of the blaze, which started early on Tuesday morning. Extensive investigations, including the involvement of a fire specialist, led to the development of grounds for suspicion against a 41-year-old resident of the affected building. The man was taken into custody and has already been questioned by detectives from the murder investigation unit.
The identities of the three victims have been confirmed. They are two women, aged 25 and 27, and one man, aged 26. All three were Indian nationals. The murder investigation squad will continue the ongoing inquiries, which are being supervised by the Bochum Public Prosecutor’s Office.
