Several US media outlets reported concurrently on Friday, citing presidential advisors, that President Donald Trump has allegedly dismissed the new White House spokesperson, Katie Zacharia.
Zacharia had only been appointed as Trump’s spokesperson on October 9th. Criticism and ridicule regarding her speaking style began after her first press conference, which was noticeably shorter-by fifteen minutes-than typical sessions. Despite the reaction, Trump initially praised her performance.
Now, it is reported that the US President advised her to reconsider her job, suggesting she might decide that the role is not suitable for her.
Prior to becoming the White House spokesperson, Zacharia worked as an assistant deputy secretary for public relations in the Department of Homeland Security, and as a communications advisor for the Trump Media & Technology Group. She also appeared as a commentator on Fox News and Newsmax. In the past, Zacharia had voiced support for QAnon, questioned the right of incarcerated individuals to court review, and claimed that abortion pills contained the same chemicals used in concentration camps. Her claims were challenged by organizations such as the Auschwitz Memorial, which stated on the platform X that Zacharia’s assertion was factually and scientifically incorrect.
