A security incident occurred again at Leipzig/Halle Airport during the night leading into Sunday. According to police reports, damage was discovered on an airport fence shortly before 11 PM. This breach led to the immediate closure of the north runway and the suspension of all flight operations on the north side, although operations continued normally on the south runway.
Later, authorities stated that an initial thorough search found no unauthorized individuals or suspicious objects. However, the preliminary investigations suggest that a vehicle likely broke through the fence. Further search operations are planned for the day, involving additional responding personnel. Although the original circumstances remained unclear, the north runway remained closed to air traffic throughout Sunday morning.
