Despite President Donald Trump’s declaration of an “energy weapon truce,” Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to statements from Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Sunday that since the announcement, Russia has conducted 76 targeted strikes against Ukraine’s energy, oil, and gas sectors.
In the last night alone, substations were hit in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. As a result, tens of thousands of families lost power while repair teams worked nearly around the clock to restore the electricity supply.
Beyond the targeted attacks on energy facilities, Zelenskyy noted that Russian strikes on Sunday evening also hit residential buildings across various regions of Ukraine. These non-energy attacks resulted in two fatalities and 12 injuries, including two children. Additionally, an agricultural enterprise in Volynia was struck earlier that morning.
According to Ukrainian sources, Russia deployed nearly 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 air-bombs, and 66 missiles during the previous week.
