Eintracht Frankfurt Accepts Krösche’s Voluntary Resignation Amid Successful Tenure

The Supervisory Board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG has released Sport Director Markus Krösche from his duties immediately, following his own request.

The Bundesliga club announced on Sunday that Krösche requested the Supervisory Board Chairman, Mathias Beck, to relieve him of his responsibilities instantly. The board addressed his request in an extraordinary session that Sunday and unanimously approved the release. Leading up to this decision, Krösche and Beck had participated in recent “good, open, and trusting conversations” regarding the current and future sporting direction of Eintracht Frankfurt and their continued cooperation.

Mathias Beck acknowledged Krösche’s significant impact on the club’s development, stating that he played a crucial role in the highly successful sporting phase of Eintracht Frankfurt. He pointed to the Europa League victory, Champions League participation, and the overall growth of the team as exceptional examples of this period. Beck emphasized that Eintracht Frankfurt is a club with high demands and huge ambitions, requiring all stakeholders to possess unwavering conviction and the necessary impact. Against this backdrop, the Supervisory Board agreed to honor Krösche’s wish for an immediate departure, especially as it was important to clarify and communicate this matter publicly before the upcoming General Meeting.

Krösche described his years at Eintracht Frankfurt as an “extraordinary, intensive, and unforgettable period.” After more than five successful, yet demanding, years, he felt a need for a change. He explained that reaching this point meant he was beginning to lose some of the “necessary impact” required for such a challenging role, prompting him to ask Beck for immediate release. He specifically wished to have this clarity before the General Meeting, citing his desire to say goodbye personally. His contract, which was scheduled to run until June 30, 2028, will continue under adjusted terms.
