The passenger association Pro Bahn welcomes the state traffic ministers’ plans to introduce a nationwide ticketing option for occasional travelers on local public transport. Detlef Neuß, the honorary chairman of Pro Bahn, stated to the “Rheinischen Post” that this move will encourage people to use regional transport, especially since many cannot justify purchasing a Deutschlandticket because they rarely use it.
Neuß further added that individuals who only seldom ride buses or trains must finally be able to benefit from more affordable prices, which would help motivate them to switch from driving private vehicles-a motivation he noted is especially relevant given current fuel costs. He believes there are many ways to design such an offer, suggesting, for instance, a single ticket valid for an entire day across all of Germany. Furthermore, Neuß urged that the offer should include provisions for groups and families.
According to information received by the “Rheinische Post,” the state traffic ministers intend to establish this nationwide ticket option during a conference starting in Schongau, Bavaria, on Wednesday. A resolution draft for the Ministerial Conference on Transport states that the goal is to create an offer “for occasional users with nationwide spatial validity, analogously to the Deutschlandticket.”
