US stock markets displayed mixed performance on Tuesday trade. In New York, the Dow closed at 52,495 points, marking a 1.0 percent gain over the previous trading day. Shortly before the market closed, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.3 percent, reaching approximately 7,713 points, while the technology-focused Nasdaq 100 registered a slight decline of 0.1 percent at around 29,490 points.
Market participants are increasingly focusing on the upcoming earnings reports. Following the close, Netflix and SpaceX numbers are anticipated, followed by Meta and Tesla on Wednesday. Given growing skepticism regarding “Artificial Intelligence” (AI), investors are closely observing whether significant investments in AI are actually yielding returns. Meta, in particular, recently expanded its focus on AI, introducing the personal agent “Muse,” which is designed to perform tasks autonomously.
In the broader economic sphere, the Euro strengthened slightly on Tuesday evening, exchanging at $1.1236 against the US Dollar, meaning the Dollar cost 0.8900 Euros.
Commodity markets saw some declines. The price of gold weakened to $4,124 per fine ounce in the evening, representing a drop of 0.4 percent. This equates to 118.01 Euros per gram. The oil price also fell; the North Sea Brent crude traded at $109.20 per barrel around 10 PM Central European Time, which was 40 cents (or 0.4 percent) less than the close of the previous session.
