Security experts, including Green politician Konstantin von Notz, have repeatedly warned the Federal Government about substantial security risks associated with PHP and other programming languages. Von Notz stated to the “Rheinische Post” that the PHP security loophole is undoubtedly a “case of grave dimensions,” noting that the impacts are already enormous and affect online presences globally. He also cautioned that risks arising from new AI applications that autonomously scan the internet for IT vulnerabilities have “exorbitantly increased.”
Notz’s concern about increased dangers was not isolated to his party’s warnings to the government. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has also multiple times highlighted dangerously rising security risks, urging that politicians take additional protective measures to address this situation. Furthermore, several experts called attention to this pressing need during a recent session of the Bundestag Interior Committee concerning the strengthening of cybersecurity laws.
