Following his party’s electoral setback in the recent midterm elections, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he was firing his Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles. His successor will be Stephen Miller, who currently serves as the White House deputy chief of staff and an advisor on internal security.
On his personal platform, Trump stated that Wiles, who “has done excellent work,” will be moving to work for the Trump Political Operation. He offered his thanks for her service, calling her work “great.” He added, “I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current deputy chief of staff of the Trump administration and one of my most trusted advisors, will take over the role of Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026.”
Wiles responded on the platform X, saying that working for Trump in the White House had been the greatest honor of her life. She confirmed that although her role is changing, her commitment to the President and the mission will not waver.
Miller is known as the architect of Trump’s immigration policies and the import ban targeting citizens from Muslim-influenced states. The close advisor has been responsible for writing numerous speeches for the President. However, the Southern Poverty Law Center has accused him of having a “proximity to the thought patterns of white nationalists and far-right extremism,” a claim made after analyzing leaked emails.
