Hamburg police reportedly apprehended a high-ranking member of the Hells Angels during a major operation conducted by the Soko Kinesis the night leading up to Saturday. This deployment was specifically aimed at combating illegal firearm possession in the city following a noticeable increase in shootings that have occurred since the summer.
Civil police officers, protective services, and customs officials conducted extensive checks in the city center, HafenCity, and St. Pauli. During these sweeps, numerous men were detained. Specifically, at locations along Bugenhagenstraße, officers stopped several luxury black cars and found a sharp firearm inside one vehicle belonging to a leading Hells Angels member. In addition to the weapon, a substantial amount of cash was discovered in the vehicles, though the exact sum remains unknown. Five men were arrested at this single location.
The police continued their checks in HafenCity and on the Reeperbahn, where more arrests were made. In these subsequent detentions, officers also recovered weapons and cash. Authorities stated that these controls were carried out in connection with the recent acts of violence, with the goal of gathering information about the involved individuals and their networks. The background for this extensive operation is a disturbing surge in shootings across Hamburg since the summer, resulting in several injuries and fatalities.
