According to the AfD Hesse regional chapter, a vehicle belonging to the local AfD district association was destroyed by fire in Darmstadt during the night leading into Saturday. The vehicle was completely burned out, and the damage was estimated to be around €3,000. An adjacent parked car was also affected by the fire.
Police and the fire department subsequently confirmed the vehicle fire, noting that it was noticed early Saturday morning around 4:25 AM. The authorities reported that no evidence regarding the cause of the fire is currently available.
Robert Lambrou, Deputy Head of AfD Hesse, commented on the incident, calling the images of the arson “terrifying.” He stated that the perpetrators had even disregarded the fact that a nearby car would also burn down. “This demonstrates not only how unscrupulous they are in approaching dissenting thinkers, but also that they do not care about collateral damage,” Lambrou said. He added that anyone who spreads such fear and terror should not go unpunished. In response, the AfD has issued its own reward of €10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators.
