According to the latest poll conducted by Forsa for RTL and ntv, the AfD is increasing its lead, gaining further ground among voters just before potential major policy decisions by the federal government. The party currently stands at 27 percent, marking a one-percentage-point increase from its previous measurement.
Conversely, the Union continues to decline, dropping to 22 percent. This represents a two-point decline and constitutes the weakest figure recorded for both the CDU and CSU since early December 2021.
The governing coalition partner, the SPD, remains stable at 12 percent. Similarly, The Left Party is also holding steady at 12 percent, despite having increased by one percentage point. Meanwhile, the Greens, the FDP, and the general “Others” category maintained their previous shares at 15 percent, 4 percent, and 8 percent, respectively. Overall, the combined share of non-voters and undecided voters remains notably high at 26 percent-a figure significantly above the 17.9 percent recorded during the last federal election.
Finally, satisfaction with the Chancellor’s work has reached a new low point. A mere 15 percent of Germans are satisfied with Merz’s work, while an overwhelming 83 percent are not. Notably, even among the Union’s own supporters, the majority are dissatisfied with the Chancellor’s performance. Forsa states that it has never recorded such low satisfaction ratings for Merz, even when compared to his predecessor, Olaf Scholz (SPD).
