Anti-AfD Protest Mobilizes Against Party Ban amid Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Election Climax

Opponents of the AfD gathered in the evening in front of the Schwerin state parliament (Landtag) to demonstrate for a ban on the party during the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The notorious protest bus, “Adenauer SRP+,” from the “Center for Political Beauty” (ZPS), was also present. Loud songs were played from the bus, including the song “Scheiß AfD” (“Shit AfD”). Furthermore, a large banner calling for an AfD ban was unfurled in front of the Schwerin Town Hall.

The state election continues until 6 PM, after which initial forecasts will be published. Unlike the election in Saxony-Anhalt two weeks ago, the AfD is less likely than not to participate in a government coalition. According to polls, a two-way contest between Minister-President Manuela Schwesig’s SPD and the AfD is expected.
