Andrea Lindholz, the Vice President of the Bundestag from the CSU, has voiced her opposition to parliamentarians delivering speeches that are entirely generated by artificial intelligence. According to the “Rheinische Post,” Lindholz believes that all citizens have a right to expect that members of parliament do not base their addresses solely on AI.
She added that while an MP is certainly welcome to use AI to aid in their work, this is only advisable if their personal perspectives and own language remain evident within the political discussion. Purely AI-generated texts, she argues, lack the personal touch, the emotional depth, and the necessary political sharpness. She maintains that language must be driven by discernible attitude, experience, and emotion.
As a jurist, she finds this particularly critical. Lindholz explained that when examining legal judgments and legal development, many decisions and guiding principles do not arise merely from deriving conclusions from previous cases, but rather through continuous advancement guided by societal interaction, moral concepts, and human experiences. Separately, the Bundestag intends to introduce its own AI chatbot for deputies and administration sometime this year.
