The Bundesverband privater Anbieter sozialer Dienste (bpa) has issued a severe warning regarding the coming care reform, predicting massive negative consequences for professional care services and those requiring support. Speaking to the “Bild”, Meurer stated that highly functional support structures for care recipients and their families could be dismantled almost overnight.
This upheaval would affect over 50,000 employees, who would face termination, forcing millions of care recipients to struggle with reorganizing their necessary support. The individuals in question are domestic staff employed by the care agencies, responsible for providing relief services and assisting recipients in their homes.
According to the association, the foundation for these fears comes from a survey conducted with more than 2,000 member services. The survey indicated that nearly every service provider would have to lay off several employees currently performing these essential relief duties. These individuals would initially find themselves unemployed.
Amidst these concerns, Meurer appealed to the Minister of Health, urging him to concentrate on the fundamental problems rather than the reform process, and to allow established, functioning support structures to continue operating in peace.
