Gen Z Protest Initiative Advocates Peaceful Demonstrations on Climate, Education, and Political Reform

The initiative “Gen Z regelt das” has publicly distanced itself from acts of violence, referencing incidents in France and other European countries. “Our stance is clear: violence against people or property contradicts our principles,” stated Gianni Matheja, spokesman for the Berlin chapter, speaking to the “Rheinische Post”. This message is explicitly directed at everyone who wishes to participate.

According to Matheja, the initiative plans to deploy numerous security personnel and will focus on de-escalation in tense situations. However, he added that no one can offer an “absolute guarantee” regarding the behavior of every individual. He stressed that the organizers possess “clear values” and will do everything possible to ensure a peaceful event.

The protest action scheduled for October 31st aims to address issues beyond climate protection, specifically focusing on education, health, the cost of living, and the manner in which young people are involved in political decisions. Matheja further explained that the aim is to gather people who feel that their future is being discussed, but whose own voice is not being adequately heard.
