CDU Appoints Dos Santos-Wintz to Key Union Leadership Role as New Parliamentary Secretary

CDU politician Catarina dos Santos-Wintz is reportedly set to become the new First Parliamentary Secretary for the Union parliamentary group. This information was reported by the “Rheinische Post,” citing an SMS sent to Union deputies by Thorsten Frei, the head of the Union faction (CDU).

In the message, Frei praised dos Santos-Wintz, describing her as an “excellent colleague” who would competently execute this important role. He noted that she has already gained significant experience as a Parliamentary Secretary, having “convincingly managed” the associated duties. Furthermore, she was highlighted for being “well-connected and assertive.”

Frei expressed strong confidence in the 32-year-old, believing she would “skillfully represent the interests of the faction to other parties and manage the faction’s affairs effectively, both internally and externally.”

Born in Lisbon and residing in Aachen, dos Santos-Wintz is expected to succeed Steffen Bilger, who has since become a minister for transport.
