CDU Warns AfD Personnel Plans Could Alienate Sachsen-Anhalt Leadership

Sven Schulze, the CDU Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, has voiced strong criticism regarding potential personnel plans put forward by the AfD. Speaking on the ntv program “Pinar Atalay” on Monday, Schulze expressed his deep skepticism about such arrangements, stating, “I am fairly certain that these people would not come from Saxony-Anhalt. Instead, Ms. Weidel would dictate from Switzerland who the leaders in Saxony-Anhalt should be…. Frankly, I have absolutely no interest in that”.

The CDU politician warned that should the AfD form a government, key state positions could be filled by politicians originating outside the region. Schulze advised that the people of Saxony-Anhalt should be fully aware of what such a scenario would entail. He used the example of Hans-Georg Maaßen, former head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, stating that Maaßen, like many others, would simply be sent to the region by Weidel. In conclusion, he described it as “regrettable for Saxony-Anhalt” to have to rely on outsiders in order to govern the state.
