Colombia started their World Cup Group K campaign with a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan.
The South Americans took the lead in the 40th minute when Daniel Muñoz scored, rising above the goalkeeper following a tasteful cross delivered by Luis Díaz. Uzbekistan managed to equalize in the 60th minute, with Abbosbek Fayzullaev netting a header from a deflected shot. However, Colombia quickly responded just five minutes later; Luis Díaz put his team ahead once more in the 65th minute after his shot unfortunately ricocheted into the net.
In the final phase of the game, Jaminton Campaz sealed the victory for Colombia. In the 99th minute, he capitalized on a precise pass from Cucho Hernández to score the final goal, making the score 3-1. Despite efforts from Uzbekistan to close the gap, they could not find any further goals. Colombia dominated the match for extended periods, demonstrating particular effectiveness in attack.
For Uzbekistan, who were participating in the World Cup for the first time, they showed fighting spirit and were able to compete in certain phases. Nevertheless, it was not enough to pose a serious threat to the experienced Colombian side. By securing this win, Colombia earned important points and reinforced its status as a favorite in the group.
