Consumers’ Advocate Supports Gen Z Protests, Calls for Peaceful Expression on Social Issues

In the lead-up to the “Gen Z rules” protests scheduled for this Saturday, Ramona Pop, the Consumer Advice Association (VZBV) Chairwoman, expressed genuine sympathy for the specific concerns of young people. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition), Pop noted that, from her perspective, current politics fails to adequately address the needs of the younger generation.

Pop stated that there are many “legitimate concerns,” citing demands for improved education, a more affordable standard of living, and a functional healthcare system. She reaffirmed the right to demonstration for these issues, adding, “One is allowed to demonstrate for these.” However, she simultaneously drew a clear line regarding conduct, warning: “Violence is not acceptable. It is regrettable when legitimate concerns are overshadowed by violence.”

Tens of thousands of young people are expected to take to the streets in demonstrations across at least 34 German cities on Saturday.
