CSU Demands Accelerated Pension Reform Plan by October from Future Labor Minister

The CSU expects the future Federal Minister of Labor, Alexander Schweitzer of the SPD, to rapidly implement the planned reforms and present the draft law for the pension package by October. According to the Bavarian CSU parliamentary group leader Klaus Holetschek, the Union’s expectation is clear: “The reforms must be implemented quickly now.” He stressed that the draft law for the pension package must be provided as soon as possible, which should be by October. Furthermore, the CSU parliamentary group leader in the Bavarian state parliament stated that it is necessary to quickly eliminate the perverse incentives within the social state, enforce participation duties, and consistently pursue misuse of social benefits. Refugees from Ukraine should receive benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act instead of Bürgergeld. The federal government must assume the full costs of supporting them, instead of further burdening the federal states and municipalities. Holetschek concluded by stating that the Union looks forward to cooperating with the future Federal Minister of Labor, Schweitzer, and asked for all the best for Bärbel Bas during these difficult times.
