Defense Stocks Surge, Dax Holds Steady Amid Energy Price Watch

The DAX mostly finished the week near its opening levels after experiencing ups and downs. At the close of trading on the Xetra exchange in the Frankfurter Börsensaal, the index stood at 25,254 points, representing a gain of 23 points or 0.1 percent compared to Friday’s close.

Investors are closely watching oil prices, which saw minimal change, actually moving up slightly. Around 5 PM Central European Time on Monday afternoon, a barrel of North Sea Brent crude cost $102.50, an increase of 29 cents, or 0.3 percent, from the previous day’s closing price.

Individual stock performance also reflected the broader political landscape. Shares in the defense conglomerate Rheinmetall led the gains, rising over two percent before the trading concluded, followed by GEA and Volkswagen. Conversely, shares in Bayer, Infineon, and Hochtief fell by around two percent or more.

In currency markets, the European common currency weakened on Monday afternoon. The euro traded at $1.1212 against the US dollar, meaning that one dollar was valued at €0.8919.
