Designated Left Leader Brands CDU’s Policies as “Fascist,” Slams Merz in Political Assault

Designated leader of the Linke (The Left), Luigi Pantisano, has launched fierce attacks on Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz of the CDU, effectively bringing the Union close to accusations of fascist leanings. Speaking to Bild regarding potential cooperation with the CDU following the upcoming regional elections in Eastern Germany, Pantisano stated, “Ultimately, there is currently no difference between the CDU, which practices fascist politics, the AfD, or fascists themselves.” He emphasized that the goal of The Left is to “keep the fascists away from power.”

Pantisano, who is set to become the successor to the outgoing party leader Jan van Aken this Saturday, announced a strong oppositional course against the current federal government. He aims to help ensure that “Friedrich Merz is afraid of us in The Left.” The party plans to mobilize workers and organize them against the government’s policies.

Pantisano further criticized Merz, calling him a “failure.” “I also find it outrageous that a failure like Friedrich Merz, who is practically the most unpopular Chancellor in years, believes he can dictate to those who work hard, who get up early, who work as postmen, what they should do,” Pantisano concluded.
