Borussia Dortmund secured the vice-championship spot prematurely after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt with a final score of 3-2 during the 33rd Bundesliga matchday.
The visiting Frankfurt side started strong at the Signal-Iduna-Park, taking an early lead in the 2nd minute courtesy of Can Uzun with a placed shot into the far corner. Dortmund struggled initially to regain control but gradually began to gain the upper hand.
The deserved equalizer arrived in the 42nd minute when Serhou Guirassy converted a sharp cross from Julian Ryerson, leveling the score at 1-1. Just before the break, Borussia Dortmund managed a complete turnaround. Nico Schlotterbeck scored in the first minute of added time, following build-up play from Maximilian Beier, putting Dortmund up 2-1.
The period following the halftime break saw Dortmund maintain significant control while Frankfurt only posed occasional threats. The decisive moment came in the 72nd minute when Samuele Inácio sealed the advantage. The 18-year-old completed a cross from Beier, making the score 3-1.
The final stages of the match remained tense. In the 87th minute, Jonathan Burkardt reduced the deficit, assisted by Ansgar Knauff, making the score 2-3. Shortly after, Jean Bahoya narrowly missed another chance that could have led to an equalizer. Despite the late flurry of action, Dortmund managed to keep the lead and claim the away victory over time.
