According to the country’s Ministry of Information, the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has registered 4,381 confirmed cases to date. Of these, 2,011 deaths have been recorded, with officially confirmed fatalities now exceeding 2,000.
Currently, 704 patients are in isolation or receiving hospital care, while 869 individuals have recovered since the epidemic began. The outbreak has a case fatality rate of 45.9%, and the contact tracing rate stands at 86.7%.
The fight against the virus continues across five affected provinces: Haut-Uele, Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, and Tshopo. Across the Central African nation, 53 of the 140 health zones and 246 health areas have been affected by the epidemic.
Active transmission is still ongoing in Ituri, North Kivu, and Haut-Uele, with Ituri remaining the main epicenter. In contrast, officials reported that no new confirmed cases have appeared in South Kivu for the past 74 days.
