Europe Plans Major Ukraine Negotiations Initiative Amid US Focus Shift

Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) has announced a new negotiating initiative for Europe regarding the Ukraine conflict. Speaking to “Welt am Sonntag”, Wadephul stated that Europe is prepared to assume greater responsibility and is actively in discussions with the United States and Ukraine on this matter. He explained that through the E3 format-bringing together France and Great Britain-European leaders intend to restart negotiations, positioning Europe to play a significantly larger role in the coming weeks and months. This desire for a stronger European role stems from the fact that the United States is currently focusing its primary attention on the conflict with Iran, making it an opportunity for European nations to fill a more prominent role in the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.
