Following a redirection of an Airbus A320 from Dublin to Rome due to a bombing threat, Thursday saw additional bomb threats targeting various European airlines. The affected aircraft were either rerouted or accompanied by air force units. Three of the affected planes, among others, ultimately landed in Bulgaria. For instance, a Finnair flight traveling from Helsinki to Rome was escorted by military jets. Four flights bound for Prague were also impacted; tests conducted for explosives returned negative results. In all other cases observed so far, no explosive materials were found. These incidents are part of a troubling series of threats against flights across Europe. As early as Tuesday, several European flights received bomb threats, leading to the temporary closure of an airport in Warsaw and the deployment of fighter jets in Rome. In those earlier cases as well, no explosives were discovered.
