Moderator and actress Collien Fernandes has criticized the bill proposed by Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig (SPD) concerning digital violence, deeming it insufficient. In comments shared with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, Fernandes, who accuses her ex-husband Christian Ulmen of “virtually assaulting” her, stated that the maximum sentence of two years is “much too short”. She argued that if the “psychoterror continues over decades” the current penalty would be “a joke” and that “greater scope” is required. The proposed legislation, which Hubig introduced in mid-April, aims to improve criminal protection against digital violence. According to the draft, the unauthorized creation and distribution of nude recordings, including deepfakes, could be punishable by imprisonment of up to two years.
