FDP Vice Henning Höne has called on his party colleagues, Wolfgang Kubicki and Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, to cease their public disputes regarding the future direction of the party. According to Höne, speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, the party conference has reached a decision, and that decision must be upheld. He asserted that it is only natural that those who win a competition should promote signs of integration, while those who do not win must demonstrate a willingness to be incorporated.
Höne predicted that this unification would happen following the party meeting. “There is now a party leadership, and both Wolfgang Kubicki and Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann belong to that leadership” he stated. He emphasized that this leadership must unify the party completely, adding that he wishes to contribute to this effort as party vice-president. Höne, who had withdrawn his own candidacy for party chairman in favor of Kubicki, concluded by saying, “If we all work together and turn our differing perspectives into a strength, the Free Democrats will achieve success once more”.
