Federal Victim Representative Roland Weber announced plans to personally contact and offer assistance to individuals immediately affected by the attack on the Berlin Christopher Street Day (CSD). Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Tuesday edition), he stated, “My team and I are now standing by all those affected, together with the relevant authorities in the State of Berlin.”
As an initial step, a psychosocial counseling hotline has already been established in cooperation with the Berlin state government. Weber confirmed that the federal government will personally reach out to those directly affected to offer help. He added that efforts would involve close coordination with Berlin’s Central Contact Point for Victims of Terrorist Attacks. Furthermore, he reassured the public: “All affected persons should know that they can contact us, and that we as a state stand firmly by them.”
The Federal Victim Representative serves as the central point of contact for everyone who has been affected by extremist or terrorist attacks within Germany. For those impacted by the recent attack over the weekend, both the federal government and the State of Berlin have made a free hotline available for psychosocial counseling at the number 0800 000 9546.
